Not knowing the reason for this, yeah, I'd be curious and concerned. Are they actually abandoned, or simply stationery as inoperable and too costly to have towed?

OR - Do they contain evidence? Were they stolen? Are they a crime scene?

People rely on vehicles, so just randomly dumping them would give me pause.

I live on a residential street next to downtown Silver Spring. It doesn't happen much.

Last year we had a car sit for months in a spot around the corner and called 311 about it. Not sure if it got towed away or the owner moved it.

In Petworth. Pretty often. So annoying.

Never, in any city street I've ever lived on.

On our busy but safe street in Alexandria, I feel like cars are abandoned 5-6x a year. Eventually someone calls parking enforcement, and the vehicle is towed - so the violation is more than just a random parking ticket. The vehicle pretty much always has out of state plates (but generally mid-atlantic or east coast).

I sometimes wonder if there's some sketchy criminal specifically suggesting our street to leave vehicles on. Or do other people see this in their neighborhood?
