UCF gives a full ride +; most kids get a refund after tuition, housing, and even a meal plan (which is not mandatory). NMF have priority housing, so kids get the on-campus 4br 2ba apartments with private bedrooms, living room, and full kitchen. The Honors College only takes about 500 kids each year, so it’s small but active with courses in kids majors, not fluff stuff, and plenty of social opportunities.

Ran out of time on SAT during math, normally a strong skill. Will take ACT this weekend and will retake SAT next month.

Kid has been diagnosed with SN since age 2 and has had full neuropsych evaluation confirming high abilities but issues with timing.

504 at school with extended time but SAT accommodations weren’t approved. We submitted formal ed testing results, notes from doctors and psychologists, and still denied.

A giant state school for free is a great idea for a humanities major who doesn't want a pressure cooker environment. I took a similar NMF scholarship to a similar giant school that does not have academic cachet but does very well in bowl games and even though I got great grades and went on to go to a top law school/white shoe firm, I've probably spent a quarter of every interview of my life talking about college football with the old white guy on the other side of the desk. They eat it up.

My kid is a NMSF (224 SSI) with a confirming SAT score of 1440. 3.88 UW GPA at FCPS, double URM but not first gen nor low income.

Kid is likely a humanities major and doesn’t want a pressure cooker environment so not interested in Ivy options. Smart but not very self driven due to ADD and anxiety.
