Really not necessary, I'd prefer to take a solo walk this time.

I enjoy the solitude of walking alone.

These are nice, I think I can use one of these.

I think for safety purposes you should be glad someone's willing to walk you home. But if you are that uncomfortable just say "Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to walk home by myself to decompress. I'll text you when I'm inside - thanks again!"

I don’t care how nice a neighborhood you live in but if it’s after dark let him walk you home. If we have a female neighbor over my husband will always walk her home even if it’s only a couple of streets away. Yes, women are independent and can take care of themselves but…….

OP here. So you don’t think that’s rude? It’s okay to just say that?

I do not think that is rude. IRL I would make it a little more flowery but the message is the same.

Use your words Op. Practice being an adult.
"I really would much rather walk home myself."

But I know he’s doing it to be kind/thinking of my safety.

Is there any way I can tell him politely that I want to walk home myself, in a way that he will actually listen and respect it?

Does hanging out mean having sex ?

No, it’s usually a trivia night or grabbing drinks or dinner.

Tell him your stomachs bothering you and just want to be left alone to let it out.
