NP. My kid in MCPS had his first precalc test on Friday. It's been graded already.
NP. DC also had a quiz in Alg. 2 H last week. Grades were out the next day.

Wow. Last year was already a yellow flag - taking an on-level class but 2 years ahead of on-level. You should have dropped back to honors version of +1 track last year or the year before.
Transfer to honors precalc credit replacement or Calc with Apps, and study to fill in the gaps if you want to get back on STEM track with AP Calc next year, or do stats next year for social science / humanities college.

Did your kid do AP calc prep last year outside of class? On-level precalculus is not sufficient preparation for AP Calc.

ASAP. DC's HS school already finished its add/drop period last week, although they obviously follow the county guidelines for the actual deadline they are grumpy about it and will require persistence to get things changed.

Easier in MoCo than FCPS but you still may have to be adamant about it. They need kids at the bottom of the class to whom they can assign the lower grades. Doesn't have to be your kid, make sure it's not.

My kid followed teacher recommendations for math class this year but the first two weeks have shown that he's in over his head.
I want to drop him down a level - how does that work and is there a deadline? I'm going to call his counselor tomorrow but I may be waiting hours for a response - guess I'm hoping for some reassurance we can still make this happen. I dread him being super stressed all year in the wrong level math.
