I would say LI is pretty geographically cut off but I have met people not from there that have moved there. My old town had a lot of NY-ers move there in 2020 due to large plots of land in north shore nassau that westchester generally doesn't have (that close to NYC) and a handful (of the very wealthy) wanted to be an easier drive to their houses in the Hamptons or North Fork
I never minded the geography since I prioritized boating/sailing culture and Westchester doesn't have it as much. I seriously don't see a difference in culture between the two places. There are a LOT of Trump supporters in my town of Bronxville .....Any NY suburb with a high propensity of white catholics over the age of 60 is gonna be that way.
