Assuming you live in the area, Shenandoah is close by and worth a visit. My kid is interested in possibly minoring in music performance and liked the conservatory when we visited last year. Go visit when you are able to tour and see a performance to see if it might be a good fit for your kid.

Major-related employment is not our goal for this child for undergrad.

AI will not eliminate choir directors and music teachers, careers that a lot of vocalists end up in. Getting a music ed degree alongside performance is something some people do, and there are jobs for them. Not sure about Shenandoah. Have heard mixed things. If your kid has talent, help them nourish it with teachers etc. Grades don't matter that much to a lot of conservatories, but I am not sure about programs embedded in larger colleges/universities. (Our kid is at a conservatory.)

Have you considered MSM?

ShenCo does allow students outside the conservatory to take conservatory classes and minor, which is nice. I think the school is a hidden gem and nice option for artistic performers who may struggle with traditional learning or need extra support.

I believe their bachelor's for voice is through the conservatory.

Hmm. I don't know enough about this field to tell you for sure. I know Shen has an excellent reputation for music.

I know a kid who goes to West Chester University in PA for musical performance. She's very talented, and it's not an overly rigorous university. It is nice, though! Maybe check it out?
