How exactly are you walking 10 miles a day every day?

No. You are in zone 2 or green which is the fat burning zone! I don’t know how old you are but women in their 40/50s will not lose weight doing cardio. Cortisol levels rise and prevent this. Walking along with strength training is the best thing you can do.

7-10 miles of walking a day? What is your pace? I do 3 miles each morning and it takes 45 minutes. Faster than 15 minute miles and you're running, essentially.

I go about 3.5-3.7 mph, on average. I find the easiest way for me to fit it in is to do one 3.5-4.5 mile walk every morning and the rest of the day I try to sneak in little walks when I can. I always walk after dinner and try to do a 10-15 minute walk after lunch, etc. If the weather sucks I go on the treadmill but always prefer outdoors if possible. I also got a walking pad which I put in front of the TV in case I'm short on steps in the evening and want to watch a show. Just being mindful and having a step goal makes a huge difference!

Cool. What you're doing sounds possible for me to incorporate. I love walking and I'd like to increase my steps. I have about 5-8 lbs I'd like to lose. Thanks for the tips!

Good luck! It's become a whole new lifestyle for me and it is honestly very do-able. So far today I have 13,442 steps from walking the dog half a mile, doing a 4.5 mile walk with a friend early this morning, and doing a mile after lunch.

Walking is su much better for your knees, plus it doesn't make me starving.

Are you tracking your calories? If not you can't tell whether your intake has changed. And it must have, given you are losing weight. It might just be that the other activities were making you hungrier and you subconsciously ate more. Walking is overall less stressful on the body and might not be impacting your appetite, thus the weight loss. Which zone exercise it is does not matter. Fat loss is driven by energy balance.

I've found the same, OP. I don't know why. But if I walk a lot, I will lose weight whereas if I do more intense exercise, I will not. IDK but I'll take it! Walking is much easier and more enjoyable for me than more intense exercise

I have heard that walking burns calories but because it's not so intense, your appetite doesn't increase. I don't know how precisely you are counting/measuring food but it's possible before you were eating more to fuel the more intense exercise.

All summer I was running outdoors, biking miles a day when I would ride, doing sprints at the track, and lifting weights at home consistently. I didn’t lose a single pound.

About a month ago I had a minor injury and couldn’t do those things so I started walking instead. And all of a sudden the weight is dropping and I even see definition in my legs, my clothes even fit better.

How does this make sense?

I’m debating what to do now that I’m feeling better and ready to resume my other activities. Part of me wants to keep doing this, but first I feel like I need to understand why this is working better than anything else. (My diet HAS NOT changed, but it was never really bad to begin with. I’m weird in that I eat the same foods on a rotating basis.)
