Turkey always goes bad faster than ham or other cuts that are made with nitrates. The same goes for the "uncured" meats which also skip the nitrates.

Newsflash. They all have nitrates and are equally bad for you. The “nitrite free” kind just don’t have nitrates added, but they have equal amounts of nitrates from celery salt or whatever agent is used in processing.

Honestly, all the deli meat manufacturers probably have disgusting factories. I do like a good ham sandwich and I generally buy Boar's Head, but don't skip that one brand just because you think another brand is cleaner. One common suggestion is to heat up the deli meat until it's steaming hot and then re-refrigerate if you want it cold. Hot sandwiches are nice, too.

FWIW, if I can't get Boar's Head, I usually just buy Giant's store brand.

I prefer Wegman's deli-sliced cold cuts and sandwich cheeses.

Love the oven roasted turkey from WF!

PP here. I tried the turkey today and it’s delicious. This might be a permanent switch.

I don't know what "good" means to you but we use the Giant brand Thin n Trim chicken breast and like it a lot.

Deitz and Watson.
I always thought they were the same junk as other lunch meats, but apparently I was wrong.

We usually buy Boar's Head deli meat for sandwiches. After the Listeria outbreak and reading about the conditions of their plant, we are looking for alternative brands. I have tried to buy other brands but no one in the family has liked them as much as Boar's Head deli meat.

So any alternative brands that are good?
