I’ve been seeing lots of shags online lately, too, and love them. I just don’t know how much work to maintain or how difficult it is to get the same look as the stylist can give.

I think shags only work if you have a decent quantity and/or volume of hair to begin with. I don't think it would work on the fine, straight hair in my family. It would just look even thinner.

I got a shag right out of Covid. I like that it is pretty wash and wear, but I do have to stay on top of haircuts more than I did with my lob.

Recently seeing pictures of modern shag cuts, lots of layering. Have worn my hair in more of a classic shoulder length for many years, it's wavy and easy to style. Thinking about cutting into it now though, for a change. Have any of you gone for more layers recently? I have a bit of layering but not very much...pics I am seeing lately just look cute and I'm tempted.
