Kind of strange that you would be this immersed in your college student’s daily life.

DS is a freshman, and Davidson offered one day of student and parent orientation, which parallel tracks, but shares some events. One shared event was the convocation, and I listened to the president’s remarks. A very high percentage of parents participate in the day of orientation because it’s the day after move-in (you’re already there).

I can tell you that I just went to my niece's graduation from Davidson and there were zero protesters. It was a complete non issue. I asked her in advance if she thought something might happen and she was confused by the suggestion.

Your Google must be broken. Middlebury is Uber liberal; Davidson is much more welcoming to different political ideologies.

Unless things have RADICALLY changed since I went to Middlebury, this is 100% wrong. Middlebury students are largely liberal leaning.

Brown would be tough for anyone who isn’t a raging liberal. Pass.

Is there money in the mix from Davidson? Does your kid not have a preference for the D1 vs D3 sports experience?

Depends on the sport. Baseball attracts more conservative kids. FYI Davidson is tech D1 so a whole other level of commitment. I do think most athletes are not as political as you imagine unless you are spouting your opinions all the time your kid will be fine. I know both schools and they are both excellent. Weather also very different. If it was my kid I would like Middlebury because you can still go abroad and not have to be stressed about sport all year. The caveat being it is so cold and remote so you have to like being on campus. It is beautiful but you are there.
