If your player is good enough you could just call clubs and ask to join a practice. Our coach (not 2009) didn’t max out roster just in case. We could take on 1-2 more but don’t have to

I would assume this recommendation is for Achilles's 2009 2nd team, as their MLS Next U16 squad should be pretty set.
Just FYI, it's not clear from the EDP site who the coach is for that Achilles squad.
They'll play in EDP South Atlantic White alongside other DC based teams, WCU, DCFC, DCXI, and City Sporting Club. At that level, there are options.

Bethesda Royals (formerly DMSA) in hyattsville, Md area.
Many teams exist but some may not play in the fall although they are still training.

Premier Athletic Club (PAC) probably has room on its 2009 boys teams. They practice in falls church at 7:30 so after traffic has died down. Good luck finding a team!

Our son's DC travel team recently canceled their season for his age group for some reason, and my son missed the chance to try out for his high school team as we were out of town.
Realize that most teams are already set for the fall season but wondering if anyone has recommendations for any teams to reach out to that might still need a player. We'd be looking for a team that practices in DC.
