Oh! Also you can have a party at the indoor pools. Been to a couple at the Olney pool c, I bet the other ones do that as well. You can have a party room for cake.

What does she like and how many kids?

We have been to and hosted parties at the dynamite gyms and those are great. The staff do a lot of it and it’s not as crazy as a Zava zone.

We have also hosted ice skating parties at the local rink.

You can also do a movie party and then go for ice cream or something.

Kids that age like laser tag. Shadowlands is not too much of a sensory overload.
Another nice option would be an art themed party like red panda or all fired up. They typically are drop off parties because studios are small and you won’t have to make too much small talk with other parents.

Bolt Parkour in Rockville would be great for this - high energy activity for the kids, but usually parties have the whole gym to themselves so it's nowhere near as loud and crowded as a place like ZavaZone or even Movement.

Another option is renting a movie theater - it was surprisingly less expensive than I expected. About $400 for one small theater with a current film showing, at AMC Rio a year ago.

Finally, the Nature Center at Cabin John does nice parties too.

I was coming here to say croydon creek.

An alternative to Zava Zone is sky zone, which I hear is cheaper. Another plus to a loud place is that it’s so loud you can’t necessarily talk to people. Also, consider a less peak time such as a Friday evening.

Rent a movie theater and/or lunch at a restaurant.

Community center with a magician

ice skating rink.

You can tell her big party this year and next year, a little one. Our 2nd grader will have about 15 girls at her party.

Not sure if they still do this but Lil Cakes and Creamery on Rockville Pike used to host children's birthday parties https://www.lilcakesandcreamery.com/about/

This place could be fun for a smaller group (but a little $$$): https://cutesycelebrations.com/

Or VisArts in Rockville has birthday party options.

ZavaZone is a sensory nightmare for sure, but you really don't have to do anything. It actually helps that it's so loud bc you don't have to make as much small talk

I have a 3rd grader and she's very outgoing and has been invited to many parties. We have never hosted a friends party. We the parents are immigrants and introverts. She is begging for a party this year and we would like to try. Our house can't accommodate a lot of kids so we will need to do it somewhere else. What's a venue near Rockville or Bethesda that will do most of the work that isn't too loud and crazy? Zavazone is too crazy for us, I think.
And, if you are in a similar situation as us, was it worth doing this? The thought of doing this every year isn't that pleasant to be honest. But we love our kid and don't want to ignore social norms all the time.
