PP here. No particular reason, other than it’s nice to be able to plan the weekend activities together during the week. This could have been equally accomplished by Tue hand-off. We handle all hand-offs at the school: one parent sends off the other one picks up, so any school day would have worked at the end. No mid-week visits, but we are always respectful about calls. I called more when DS was younger, but these days, I check in with him maybe once a week.

We’ve done both. Personally, I preferred Fridays over Mondays for the following reasons:
- First few days after transfer are lower stress (especially if parent works weekdays), can be focused on flexible fun activities, and less homework
- allows the kids to adjust over the weekend and feel more organized/prepared for the next school week


Two possible upsides to Monday transfers, especially for a parent that works long hours M-F:
- the incoming parent might feel more relaxed/ready to pick up the kids on Monday after that parent just had a weekend w/o the kids. This also gives that parent the weekend to get the house ready and to plan for the upcoming days with the kids
- gives parent and kids the immediately preceding weekdays to co-plan activities for the upcoming weekend. This is especially helpful for last minute scheduling of playdates for younger kids

we do Fridays. Excited to pick them up after school and then have the weekend together. Calls every night and each parent goes to any sports games during the week. One of us may take the kids for ice cream or something mid week just to connect.

This is a great point, thanks. Trying to balance the pick up/drop off load here as well.

We also do Mondays. Started with Sunday and it shifted to Monday’s at Children’s request. It works.

Sunday evening. That way neither parent has to pack up and drive to a camp that the other one chose (when we were separated but not yet divorced, my ex enrolled our child in a camp in Chantilly with no before care option, when I lived in Alexandria and worked in DC).

We do Friday. In summer, this means that kid is picked up at the end of camp on Friday and the other parent can choose the summer camp for their week. We don't use the same camps so Monday afternoons would not work and Monday mornings seems awful.
