How come some NCSL rec teams get turf for practices and some don't. How does the county award the turf space?

250x16 players = $4000.
I don't think the county even charges for grass field practices, but lets say $10 a player. Then $10 a player for turf for games.
The coach works for free. Say $25 in admin costs per kid (which seems high for rec). Then $150 to ncsl per team for scheduling. Rec pays refs worse than travel, so maybe $100 for four home games for refs.
That leaves the "nonprofit" with a profit of $2700ish *per team.*

We paid that much on season at SYA and then went to travel. It was a ripoff. They do have a ton of "Valor" teams-are the rec kids really subsidizing them?

We pay $250 for a season of u13 rec soccer. They have 8 total games, a volunteer coach, and practice on grass fields. I think that $250 x 16 players should be enough to cover a professional scheduling service and the ref fees.

SFL was run by volunteers and my older dd had no games further than 20 miles.

Driving was never a problem before last spring.

I do not think the same org should run rec and club scheduling, personally. Rec leagues should be run by people who care about what's best for rec players. SFL was all volunteers and did a very good job.

Last season, this league was a hot mess with tons of forfeits, orgs added in to the league on the rec side that would never have been allowed to join SFL (our coach was told that because they had travel teams in NCSL, they were also allowed to enter in rec teams, whelp that's ridiculous), teams not showing up for games scheduled too far away etc.

Rec sports are inherently very different from Club and families have different expectations. Club parents signed up to drive into DC or Fredericksburg. Rec parents are completely shocked that rec games would be scheduled so far away.

Your rec league games start on Sept 7 and you don't have the schedules yet? Yeah, I'd be pissed too. Its one thing if its a disorganized rec league being run by volunteers. But this is run by paid full time employees and they managed to publish club schedules what? 6 weeks ago? Clearly the rec business is not a priority for them.

I don't know - this is our first foray into NCSL and I was also surprised by how late this info is coming out. But they were clear it is supposed to be released 8.30.

My kids played in the SFL league which was sold to NCSL and we always had the schedules well in advance of the season. I never remember thinking, gosh, where's the schedule?

I just looked up in my calendar and in spring 2023 (last season my kids played rec) the schedule came out on April 2 and the first game was April 15.

I have a kid playing NCSL club and another kid playing on the rec side. We have had Kid 1's club game schedule for over a month. Club and rec games start on the same Saturday, but they *still* haven't published the rec schedule (which one would think would be much less complicated than the travel schedules). Its very disrespectful to busy families.
