My take is that this is the norm for Upper East Side, thus comes across as a humorous if not irreverent take on culture.

What an interesting and entertaining read.

I have to think the entire Upper East Side is gossiping over the families involved in the book.

Anybody read it and able to sleuth out the families who she worked for? There are some real family names dropped of folks she interviewed with and did not work for. But the long-lasting engagements, I understand she used pseudonyms.
