+1 My kid has 27 in her class at grade 3 and the other grade 3 class has 28. I was told by other parents (not sure if it's true) that they don't consider an additional class until it goes over 30 kids. We're lucky that the teachers are experienced and great.
Every class at 2 over the "guideline" before an additional allocation would be considered. Unless there's a hiring freeze. Or the year has started and there aren't any more hours to allocate. Or they just don't feel like bothering with it.
I teach at a Title I school with 21 kids in a kindergarten class. The other 3 classes have 20. The cap is 18. Think we've been able to get anything? Nope.
