More than 18000 men were murdered here in 2022. About one hundred Americans (men and women) were murdered outside the US in he same year. Travelling is much safer!

No, it's not the US embassy's job to do this. Accidents happen, whether due to crime, medical emergencies, or whatever else.

He's FOS and taking you for a ride. If you said Venezuela that would be valid but Colombia is fine unless you're involved in sketchy stuff.

Men get murdered all the time. No one cares.

The Embassy can't protect Americans who stupidly travel to third world crime cities and are then victims of crime. Being brutally murdered for an Ipad is a risk you take "vacationing" in Colombia. Its cheap for a reason.

Our country can't take in every person from Colombia.

Crime in Medellín is similar to most major US cities. The only caveat is that a lot of theft crimes go unreported.

Crime is going to happen overseas. Embassies can't prevent it.

Obviously not, but they can put pressure on local authorities to do thorough investigations, and they certainly can give a family some peace by sharing an autopsy report that they have had for months. Unlike European embassies, US Embassies do not seem to act in their citizens’ best interests, but rather seem to be fortresses for waging war and interfering in countries’ affairs.

This has been going on for years. Lots of clowns going to Medellín and Cartagena to party, especially the last 5-10 yrs. Tourism numbers are through the roof. It's scary because victims are compliant, so normal security precautions like password managers or 2 factor authentication are ineffective. And you could die too!

No, they have special protective cloaks that they give Americans who ask. Surprised you didn't know about this.
