19 and 22 and we traveled through Europe this summer. All AirBnBs, all 2 bedrooms, 2 beds in one room for the kids to share, one room for us.

When much younger, 8 and 11? I'd share a bed with our girl and dad would share a bed with our boy.

Then a suite with a pull out sofa and 2 queens (or frequently doubles).

Then we graduated to 2 bedroom AirBnBs.
SOP for us for years.

+1 and on occasion when the only available option was a king bed, they have shared it. They are siblings - I don’t understand the concern at all.

We just got back from a 3 weeks trip with 4 kids, including b/g 14-year old twins. When we had a 2-BR suite, the twins shared a room, and they were grateful to have that extra space at all. In a few locations, all 6 of us shared one room or a one-BR suite.

How absurd of this mother to decry a shared room short term on vacation. Would they have to have individual tents if he took them camping, too? She is being just too precious.

We always get two bedrooms when we travel and my two kids have shared it since the oldest was 12. And yes, sometimes it is just one bed.

I genuinely do not see the problem.

They are 13 (girl) and 16 (boy) and “need privacy” apparently. That’s all she said. It’s a bed and an air mattress and was apparently all he could afford.

My brother and I used to share a room together (not bed) all the time (18 months apart). It was no big deal.

All the time! My kods are now 20 and 18. They will share a room on our next week long vacation to Frand Cayman. They can figure it out.

Mine are a bit younger, but same.

When they were small, would absolutely have them share a bed in a standard hotel room, but stopped that once they hit the tween years (and probably would have done the same regardless because one is a very “active” sleeper so there were lots of complaints).

That they’ll have sex? They can get changed in the bathroom. It’s really not that big of a deal if you really think about it.

Yes, friend is overreacting. I'm assuming the bedroom has two beds. They can change in the bathroom.

A friend of mine is incredulous that her ex planned to have their opposite sex teens share a room on vacation for a few days.

My kids are both boys so I’ve not had to encounter this but my initial thought was that if we had a boy and a girl we’d still all share a hotel room at times and certainly wouldn’t get three hotel rooms. Vacation rentals we usually get three bedrooms but there are times when we have two.

Is this an absolute no? Or is my friend overreacting?
