STAger, like someone who sets up the house with nice furniture so it will sell faster. Not a freaking stranger

I have to say this would be my first guess. We sold an old house built in the 1900s that got really musty smelling no matter what we did if the windows/doors were closed for too long. When we left there, we would regularly open them. a week of them being closed after moving out smelled terrible!

There's no smell BECAUSE the windows are being left open. Once they're closed, it may be very different.

But in the pouring rain?

Even if it was simply poor ventilation, could t the agent come open the place up ahead of showings?

A house has been for sale on our street for most of the summer. It was owned by a really odd, hermit of a man. I DID see him outside after the house was put up for sale, moving some boxes.

The house wasn’t a mess, but was painted odd colors, had a weird backyard, and no curb appeal. The weirdest thing, every window in the house was left halfway open. In the rain, over night, constantly.

It was on the market a few weeks then was taken off. My neighbor is the local real estate police, and she was the one who told me it must have sold. Only it didn’t. A company came and planted some lands out front, staged the interior, and did some things in the backyard, then put it back up for sale at the same price.

But the windows are still open!

My RE police neighbor noisily went to the open house and said there isn’t a smell at all, not even air freshener. We can’t figure out why they would keep the windows open and risk water damage, or, even though we aren’t in a bad area, theft. It’s been since May that those windows have been open. What are they hiding?
