Op sounds like an hourly employee. They don’t get paid if they aren’t working.

This 100%. It's harder than you would think to onboard someone. All the tickets can go to all the right people well in advance and you can follow up and be told everything's fine, then the day before the new hire is supposed to start, you find out their laptop hasn't gone out for whatever reason.

That’s a good point but she was told she should get it the week prior and it’s mid week. She’s not getting enough information for sure.

I received my laptop the day I started. I began the day logging into a virtual link. Did training and a few meetings. Had the laptop by midmorning.

Other equipment came throughout the week directly from the vendor.

Only receiving a laptop isn’t the norm in my field. We usually get two monitors and sometimes we don’t get a laptop. It takes a while to get everything set up and unfortunately I’m not paid until I can login. Not all fields are like yours.

Op here. I don’t think this is the case and I won’t get paid if I don’t get the equipment. I was told I should get it sometime this week. If I can’t login to the work computer I won’t get paid for that day.

If I were you, I'd hope for a long delay just so you can do whatever you want while still earning money.

My company plans for your computer to arrive via overnight shipping the day before you start, and if things are busy it’s not unheard of to not get it until your start date. I think you’re fine.

calm down

I recently started a WFH job and didn’t get my computer until the morning of the first day. Apparently this is their policy.

I have asked the manager at least twice if there is a tracking number and also what equipment I will receive. Desk top, laptop? I have received zero updates and there are now 3 business days left. I want to know so I can get the correct size desk. They have pushed back the start date once already and they pushed it back a month and a half. I don’t want Monday to come around and I have no computer so I can’t begin.
