Very shocking, might be the goal if DC can't get into a top school freshman year.

My DS got accepted to both Vandy and ND as a transfer from GMU. He was shocked that he got accepted to both. He chose Vandy and started classes today as a junior.

I think transfer rates should be factored in to US News selectivity formula. A 13% freshman rate and a 30% transfer rate isn't as selective as it initially seems. Same woth Vandy, UNC etc.

Yes, this is true. So take away the 75-80 Gateway kids from the total of accepted transfer students to get a more accurate number.

UC system prioritizes transfers from CA community colleges and then from other UCs, don’t think you’ll just slide right into UCLA or Berkeley from JMU.

Lots of top schools are transfer-friendly if you have excellent grades.

Sounds great! Transfers are usually more educated on the college, are used to college work and excelled in it, and are eager to contribute!

My DC got in on transfer. Excellent grades (4.0) and great ECs at first (much less competitive) college.
