I just read it! I don't know why I wish I knew who the real Roger was, but it is sad that he died and she couldn't attend his services.

I just finished this book and found it really compelling, mostly for its discussion of male-female relationships. It's a book about working as a courtesan in DC, and it's sort of like reading the other side of all those DCUM posts about women discovering their husbands are cheating on them. Has anyone else read it?

I found her discussion of her relationship with Roger quite poignant. He came across as someone who wished he were a character in a Jeeves and Wooster book.

Also after reading I am so curious what impoverished county in Virginia/ Maryland she came from (Caroline County, MD? Sussex County Va??) and what Roger's real name was and what she did her graduate degree in.
