We stayed at Hotel Saturnia recently. It has a gazillion 5 star reviews but I didn't love the rooms, which were old (part of the charm, I guess?). But everything else was lovely including location, the breakfast and staff. What I would absolutely recommend is that you stay directly on a canal (doesn't need to be the Grand Canal). There's just something about pulling up to the hotel entrance by boat taxi & being met there by the hotel staff - that doesn't lose its charm. Our kids loved looking out over the canal the from the room balconies. Just really special.

Hotel Rosa Salva had a nice family room. 5 min from St Mark’s.

The Pensione Accademia has a family room/suite. I think it’s a great location (Dorsoduro, so convenient to St Marks without being quite as a overrun with tourists). Also has a nice private green space. Has its own private dock for water taxis so that is super convenient for the airport (and kind of fun, plus the price for 4 pax isn’t bad) or you can walk to the public aliluna stops.

We loved the Hilton Molino Stuckey. It has a view of Venice—which was fabulous at night. Free boat shuttle to St. Mark’s. Fabulous breakfast was included. We were upgraded to an amazing suite. The hotel arranged private transportation to the airport by boat.
Fwiw, the Venice airport was a bit of a $hit$how and surprisingly not well resourced. Arrive super early—especially if you need to check a bag.

I stayed at the Hotel American-Dinesan a few years ago with younger teenagers. Hotel is close to the hustle and bustle of Venice, but tucked away on a small canal near the Accademia bridge. We had a family room that was very spacious. Breakfast was included and pretty good.

We'll be in Italy in June 2025, flying home via Venice, where we'll stay for a couple of nights. Would love family-friendly recommendations for a hotel. Thanks!
