Huh? What a weird critique. This is OP. I'm not NOT asking him what he wants to do. I just don't have any experience nor personally know anyone who does so wanted to gather information about what this could look like.

Thanks to those who shared their experience. That's good to know about kids being from different schools i hadnt thought of that.

Are coaches generally volunteer parents like they were at the u little stage?

BRYC has rec for that age in Fairfax. The kids on one team might be coming from three different HS pyramids so practices and games might be further then you'd like if the parent coach isn't from your pyramid. The kids have fun but last minute absences are rough.

Arlington soccer has rec for that age. The kids I know who didn’t aged out do adp or do other primary sports.

Join a rec league in an area that is majority Hispanic and you will be amazed at how good some of the rec players are.

Yes, in NOVA they play on rec teams in the NCSL rec league (used to be called Suburban Friendship League). Its well run and fun.

Do you not know what your local rec community sports league is?

We are moco not nova but my experience with U14 is that it’s kids who want to do other things or kids with parents who can’t commit to the game and excessive time commitment and cost.
My DD plays with OBGC and has really good coaches over the years. She’s developed a lot.
She still wants to do winter basketball though and play soccer for her MS in the spring so didn’t want to commit to travel soccer..

It would help if you told us what area you're in. Nova is too generic.


Really? Do you have experience in multiple areas of Nova? If so, Id be happy to hear about all of them.
