Is it the light spectrum, the flickering, or the intensity of the light that seems to be a trigger?

For me brightness and flickering are the issue. I use floor lamps, as opposed to overheads. I buy lower lumen bulbs and use dimmers as well.

What medications are you on?

I was suffering from migraines with aura and was told it was triggered by stress. Turned out to be triggered by a prescription. I went off it and migraines are gone.

Just a thought. LEDs are all there will be in a few years so I hope you find a color that works for you.

The big flicker problem is retrofit LED bulbs, especially if there is a dimming circuit. You'd need to replace any dimming switches to be ones specifically for LEDs-- They usually run $40-$80 a switch. I don't have a problem with properly installed 3000K/90CRI LEDs.

fluorescent tubes are definitely a huge trigger for me, I hate going into the office for that reason. Usually the ballasts are poorly maintained.

Otherwise, look for halogens if you can.

OP I've been able to find some incandescent bulbs on amazon but they're pretty expensive like $8-$10 a bulb.

Me again, I think I messed my numbers up 2400k is the warmer more amber yellow. I order directly from the Waveform website. I have tried so many different kinds, and Waveform didn’t trigger migraines. I even ordered an 80 dollar bulb from a different company, and those were the worst.

I like 5000 led but everyone is different. I cannot go too yellow.

I’ve struggled with this and we have a ton of overhead lighting that is too expensive to replace completely right now. Unfortunately our solution was trial-and-error with many different brands and types of bulbs. There are a few spots that we can’t seem to solve for completely so our solution is to hoard our remaining good bulbs for the areas
I use most (kitchen) and I don’t use overhead lighting anymore in the remaining areas.

I get really frustrated with anyone who suggests it’s an easy or seamless switch. As for the environmental savings, I think we have wasted more energy having bulbs shipped to us and driving around looking for them than we have saved by switching to LEDs!

Is it all LEDs? I’ve found that the ones with warmer light don’t bother me. The ones with cooler light do. The lower the number on the Kelvin Scale, the warmer the color.

Also, I don’t have any light fixtures where I can see the bulbs, because that really bothers me. Can’t stand looking at bare bulbs and often get migraines from them.

LED and fluorescent bulbs are migraine triggers for me. I used to be able to find incandescent bulbs, but I can’t anymore. If you have the same problem, what are you doing for lighting?
