The ability to be "off duty" and to just leave the house whenever I wanted to.

There was a very brief window of time between the years I was needed for my children, and the years when my husband started basically needing a "sitter" whenever I have to leave him alone. It was just a year or two, actually.

I missed the husband I had. A memory showed up on my phone of DH and DC and it’s was lovely and sad at the same time to see the husband I used to have spending time with DC in ways he can no longer.

Predictability of schedule. That my husband and elementary-age children had my undivided attention. Sandwich generation is an absolute nightmare.
