Yes that one. It was expensive and overcrowded (incredibly!) and not worth it for anyone considering it IMO. It was also 60-90 min drive for us from PG so kind of a bust of a day but thats why I ask for recommendations. Definitely keeping a notes list with all the suggestions for random days off/spring break next year.

Correcting myself here. The FAQs say 8 years old but then the fees state kids 5-7 can do it as long as with an adult and over 48 inches.

I agree that teh scavenger hunt kid's tour is great, and NGA also has a first saturday drop-in art program with some hands-on art activities and a make and take art activity.

Postal Museum is very hands-on.

Your kid may also like the spooky staircase that leads to all the subterranean galleries in the Sackler and eventually, to the secret passage to the Freer Gallery.

MD science center in Baltimore. There is also a playground outside it now too, right there.
Hiking and climbing on rocks on the Billy Goat trail C section, the MD side overlook or the VA side overlook.

Renn Fest - MD Renaissance Festival (really fun, but be warned - no flush toilets, just portapotties)

Great Falls - Your child might like the Billy Goat Trail, but because check with the rangers first to make sure you know what you’re getting into. Some parts felt unsafe to me, but admittedly, I’m a big chicken, and the trail is pretty popular. There are other less challenging trails, as well. I’ve only visited the MD, which is great, but don’t know anything about the VA side.

The Wonderful World of Watkins is a Wizard of Oz playground in Prince George’s county. It is part of a huge park which I think has other attractions for kids, as well.

Crowdsourcing for some more out there ideas or experiences we haven't heard of.
We have the whole week off next week and have some low-key activities planned but want to do a few things like go to museum or nats game.
Just checking to see if there were any museums or activities in the DC area that you were really surprised that your kids like that maybe aren't as well known.
My kid likes being active Legos sports dinosaurs music rock climbing ninja courses.
We've done natural history and Lego museum. There's a rock climbing gym in Columbia that we've gone to but maybe there are some in DC or Virginia that might be super kid friendly especially for bouldering?
Thinking about the spy museum and other stuff like that.
Age is almost 7.
