Only when needed.
Why would anyone take un-needed sick days?
Some people really stretch the boundaries, or have the Monday Flu and/or mental health/I’m not feeling it today days. Some people, especially younger employees, seem to view it as time that needs to be taken (I’m a fed, so there are different pots) and then get all Pikachu-faced when they get something serious and have no leave. I’m a supervisor, and I see all kinds. But I also see the martyrs who show up coughing and sneezing, and I can’t actually force them to go home. If you are sick, stay home.
So, I don’t stay home every time I wake up with a bit of a headache or am over tired. If I have a fever or other sickness, I call out. I don’t get sick that often so it’s not that frequent. This year I had a bunch if medical tests, so I have been taking a bunch of half days, although for some of the complicated ones, I took the whole day.
