I have started to mostly use hypochlorous cleansing spray.

I use Aquaphor on my little cuts. It's a neutral ointment that is thicker than Vaseline and it comes in a tube or a jar. I also use it on other rough skin areas such as elbows and feet.

I accidentally stabbed myself with a kitchen knife today so I used it. I didn’t grow up using it. Have a ton of scars from childhood injuries. No idea if that’s related but I figured for a kitchen knife wound, it was worth it.

DS has gotten cellulitis before. If Neosporin might help prevent that, we'll use it.

You can get Vaseline in a tube. Cellulitis is a lot worse when it's resistant.

Medicine is moving away from using it. Clean with soap and water and Vaseline if you feel you need to cover it. That’s it.

It can also cause contact dermatitis. I don't use it because I don't see the need as long as you keep the wound clean. I used it recently on a cut on the back of my leg that was done in a way I was a little worried about bacteria. I got AWFUL contact dermatitis from it!

No you shouldn't!! Skin infections are very rare and the ointment creates resistance to antibiotics.

Neosporin is discouraged because it can lead to antibiotic-resistant infections. Soap and water is absolutely good enough.

The only time I use it is if I have a cut that looks infected or in a place that might get infected such as my foot. Those times are rare. (Example: I had a splinter in my finger that went unnoticed until it was infected. I removed the splinter and used the ointment.)

Randomly started thinking about this today after DS skinned his knee. I grew up putting Neosporin on everything. We got a paper cut? My mom would put Neosporin on it.

I don't think I've ever used it with DS. Remembered reading something that it wasn't needed and more likely to cause harm than good. We rinse with soap and water, or just water if soap isn't available. Knock on wood, no issues yet.

Makes me look back at other things we did growing up (born in 1986) that I can't imagine doing now!
