Is this for the traditional graft or the new Chao Pinhole graft?

I’m the OP and when I was scheduling they told me that day 3-4 was when bruising was worst so to take that into consideration. All told they said bruising would go away by day 10-14 but clearly PP had a different experience. Mine is only for one tooth so perhaps that might result in less bruising?

Can someone elaborate on recovery from a gum graft (no teeth/bone involvement)? I saw the reference to someone looking like they were punched and this surprised me. Graft is scheduled for September and bruising after would be problematic with job interviews.

Are you grateful that you did the IV sedation? I don’t know if it’s worth it to me to do it.

Very timely thread. I was just quoted about $3000. When you say "No no no," you felt it wasn't worth it? Having trouble figuring out how bad it is if I don't go forward with it.

OP -- have you thought about getting an opinion from a second doctor? I am thinking about doing this, both for cost reasons and just to make sure I am doing the right thing.

My terrible teeth unfortunately are hereditary and I already see specialists. I guess it never hurts to get a second opinion but the tooth I’m talking about is a front upper tooth and I’m only 45. I think if I don’t get this that I would eventually lose the tooth. If I were older and the tooth was in the back, I might reconsider but it seems that I will need this sooner or later.

I had a gum graft, extraction, and implant about 10-15 years ago. For all 3 I think it was around $8k or so?

I think it was 2500 total for the gum graft and implant, a few years ago.

Thank you for removing the rude comment! I’m already traumatized enough.

I don’t need to hear horrific pain stories. I need one to keep a tooth and not much else that I can do about it. Was quoted like $3,200 and am blown away. Dental whoas have followed me all my life. Didn’t hit the jackpot with my teeth for sure!
