I was part of a study group for 6 weeks. We were given 200 ml of daily NaCl + Vitamin C infusion intravenously while consuming a strict diet of 1200 Kcalories per day. There was also a 45 minute daily aqua aerobics. I only lost 8.5 lbs while the average of the group was 22 lbs. This certainly proves that genetics and metabolism is a big factor in losing weight beyond calories in and calories out.

I can’t do laps because of arthritis in my shoulder, but I can tread water with active aerobic exercises for an hour + easily and I need to lose more than 50 pounds. I call it vertical swimming. I do think someone who needs to lose 50 pounds doing laps for an hour with no background in swimming is pretty likely to hurt themselves.
