The issue then is that you don't like your current job and you want a new one that allows telework. It isn't about competitive v. excepted service. There are thousands of full-time or near full-time remote workers in the excepted service.

So you are looking for a fully remote position? As opposed to the opportunity to telework a few times per week?
If that is the case there are currently 84 competitive service competition positions available and 23 excepted service competition positions available. The vast majority are for internal hiring or displaced employees with preference.
