Do most kids attend public schools?

Can vary by street or block. On our block, it was like 8 out of 9 went private (different privates, so many to choose from in this area). The next street over, most went to Wyngate/NB.

IME, mostly WYngate but some families go to privates including st Jane or woods academy or McLean. Probably half the families I know that chose private did so because the kids has some needs that weren’t well met in public (dyslexia, ASD, social anxiety, etc.). But there’s plenty going public so there’s typically friends close enough for your kid to walk to their house and easy for parents to get to know one another.

I would recommend the Goddar School on Goldsboro Rd. in Bethesda. NAEYC accredited and outstanding.

We’ve been very happy with BCDS.

A lot of kids in the neighborhood go to either Wyngate or Rochambeau. We often find ourselves at the playground where we’re the only ones speaking English. The Rochambeau people are all very kind, but not particularly friendly. We’d love to have you in our neighborhood! (I’m also in Alta Vista)

this is a good summary- i can't tell what is just the language barrier. there are a few random signs in yards from private schools but besides Rochambeau (which has a large presence) most kids go to wyngate

It’s a great neighborhood! We love it here. We do a full day school but hear lots of good things about all of these.

We’re in Wyngate and send our kids to Smart Kids Bilingual Learning Center (in-home daycare) and it’s amazing. Couldn’t be happier with the play-based/academic program.

Not a preschool but since you mentioned interfaith figured I would share the Interfaith Family Project: https://iffp.org/

Yes. Bradley hillls Presbyterian church also has a preschool that a lot of people use. We sent our kids to both of these but it was so long ago that my reviews won’t be relevant. There is also a preschool at the Y (at ayrlawn) that people use. Both the Y and Bcds have after school care programs with bus service from WYngate so that’s convenient for would with older and younger kids.
And of course lots of people also use the private schools preschool programs (more expensive), some of the Montessori programs (ditto) and ones affiliated with this house of worship like the Jewish preschools.
It’s a very friendly neighborhood with lots of kids!

it's easy to meet parents at the playground... we have multiple neighborhood mom whatsapp groups, various organized music class/sports/etc in the park
