I just hate-watched an episode and a half and Regardless of the reality, I can’t imagine allowing my child or my family to be depicted in this manner on TV.

In most of the instances of girls crying, they have dry eyes and no tears. So I think it’s very fake.

It was for traumatic for them. Maddie, the golden one talked about it several times.

Right, that’s what I’m seeing. The show (new season) is very toxic. I feel horrible for the girls. We are only watching because we know one girl. But I guess if the goal is an entertainment career, the original cast did decent. That must be why the new cast also signed up for this. Who knows about mental health and relationships with their mothers etc.

The new instructor was also on several episodes of the old show when Abby created a replacement team. She was every bit as out of control and intense as all of the original dance moms. Not sure why tv needs a new version of a show that showed just how crazy and cutthroat the dance world is for children.

Being verbally/emotionally abused by trusted adults for the viewing enjoyment of a cable tv audience? I have more sympathy for the original cast — meaning the girls from Pittsburgh who were part of the studio before the show started — but it’s baffling that anyone who could watch the fallout from the original and think that they want their kid to be part of the sequel.

My daughter used to dance recreationally at that studio - she really enjoyed it. One of the girls on the show is the daughter of one of the instructors. My daughter had her mother as an instructor. She was great.
