I'm down 50 with another 20 or so to go.

My blood pressure went from alarmingly high to blissfully in the low normal zone.

I don't worry about fitting in the seat for roller coasters anymore.

I'm not eliminated from trail riding (horseback) because of my weight.

I have more room in the economy seat on flights.

The biggest best thing is that I'm not walking around feeling a constant sense of shame and self-loathing. I'm no supermodel, but I don't feel disgusting and embarassed anymore. It's been pretty revealing just how much of that I was carrying.

I’m 5’8” and I’d be delighted to go from 205 to 175.

Besides the benefits mentioned, I could pack lighter for vacations. I think I overpack because I am uncomfortable with how I look and I want options in case I am having a hard day self-esteem wise. Also my outfits often include a wrap to cover arms in dresses, shapewear to smooth my tummy, a loose top over a dress or tank to hide my belly, pants instead of shorts or dresses so I don’t chafe.

I’m decently healthy and fit for a middle aged woman. I recently ran a 10 mile race and my BP and cholesterol numbers are in the normal range. I think the lack of “consequences” are actually what has kept me from making weight loss a priority. My wake up call recently is that I don’t think I can run faster without losing at least 15-20 pounds. My other motivation is that friends are starting menopause and I feel like my window of time to lose the weight is shrinking.

I've also lost a significant amount of weight in the past year. In addition to what others have said, the biggest thing for me is the ability to move without pain or discomfort. Because of this, I no longer dread physical activities, from walking the dog to traveling or even lugging my work bag to and from my office from a distant employee parking lot. Not having discomfort associated with movement opens life up in such a wonderful way. It's so easy for mean people to talk about how "lazy" fat people are, but in truth, the daily steps I got in at my old weight required more discipline and determination than what I do now, even what I do now is more than triple what I did in my best day at my old weight. It's just so hard to move when every step is painful and exhausting.

The other thing for me personally is shedding the shame I felt about how much weight I'd gained. I dreaded events with people I hadn't seen in a while and avoided as many as possible. Hating yourself and feeling like a failure is its own burden, and getting rid of that is liberating in a way that I could not have even imagined a year ago.

On the health front, I'm sharing one of the objective benefits. Last year at my physical, my EKG report assigned an EKG age that was 15 years more than my chronological age. Yikes. My report this year reflects an EKG age that's 17 years younger than my chronological age.

I'm also enjoying buying new clothes.

Heat tolerance
Better aerobic ability
Able to hike longer and harder
Able to snorkel in currents
Old clothes from before covid will fit and I won't need to replace them if we travel or go out again
I will enjoy stretching and core work not feel like it's deserved punishment
That's my list.
Was low 150s before covid, climbing steep desert trails with ease. Stuck low 170s.

How did you do it? I'm 5'7" stuck on 170 pounds last ten years. Last time I was 140, I had no appetite, only ate when I remembered and didn't finish my food.

I’m almost back to my wedding weight, but with a few more curves, and my husbands sexual interest in me has really soared. it’s really nice to wear clothes that no longer are needed to hide my figure.

More energy
More options for stylish clothes

Overall
Health
Cut risk of diabetes, some cancers, heart attacks
Set a good example for other family members
Feeling of accomplishment (or superiority 😉)
Reduced stress on joints.

I’ve lost just under 100 lbs in the past year.

I actually have less energy. Cutting the calories necessary for the weight loss has left me tired much of the time.
Options for clothes are so so much better. And so easy to buy.
Overall health risks are better
Nothing noticeable in my joints.

Other benefits have been:
-fitting in places both physically (booths, plane seats, arena seats) and not standing out as fat in a crowd.
-doctors taking me seriously about complaints. I had a medical issue that for years doctors have been telling me I just needed to lose weight. When I lost the weight and it was still there, they actually figured out the real problem.

Summer heat bothers me less now that I’m slim.
I don’t need to constantly eat and drink.
I love being able to wear tank tops and dresses with comfort and ease.

Eating a healthy diet, mostly pescatarian, has made my incipient arthritis go away.
