Annual operating costs for each, including routine maintenance? 2-wheel drive or AWD? Do you have the ability to charge at home? Will the vehicle ever be used for long road trips? Do you care about eliminating the maintenance and repair issues associated with gas-powered vehicles? Does cargo capacity matter - they have different amount of interior space. Have you checked the cost of insurance for each to see the difference?
Either car would be driven locally. We have a bigger SUV for any road trips. We would get a charger if we got the Tesla. And no, cargo/ AWD doesn't matter (driving conditions are always good near us, no mountains, no snow). Insurance is not a big difference either (we did look into it because I saw that mentioned here). I am thinking maybe the Mazda. Theoretically a Hybrid would sound nice but there are none near us for a reasonable price.
