The final was not a good representation of the women's game which is typically team-oriented with lots of passing and cutting to work for a high % shot. The French played very good defense to keep the US from getting into its offense. Likely because of this and the weight of the moment, the US also committed many more TOs than normal. It was not the most beautiful basketball to watch but the game was entertaining because of the tension and drama.

When your denominator is small it is very easy to make large %age changes. If I have 2 and now have 4, OMG 100% change!!! If I have a million and now have 1.25 million, it is only a 25% change even though it might be infinitely harder to grow something by 250,000 vs just by 2.

Look at the shooting percentages by both France and US today in the women's game and compare to the men. The men just have way more skill at shooting. The game today was trash and unwatchable basketball. Horrible shooting. Horrible passing. Horrible fundamentals. No dunking.

I was hoping for a France win. The teams were equal and a one point difference confirms that. If these were the top two teams then women’s basketball has a long way to go.

I actually like watching women’s basketball. But today’s game was painful. At halftime the score was tied at 25. That’s ridiculously low.

Watching the US women stink it up against France....I never watch women's basketball, but if this is the best of the best on display, it is just horrendous. Just horrible fundamentals. Horrible shooting. Horrible passing. Horrible defense. It's like watching high school basketball. I will not be tuning into the wnba after this amateurish display. So many turnovers and dumb decisions by team USA. Ughhh just all around ugly basketball. It's not even as good as college bball.
