Find a good caring place with caring people
Don't look up much for fancy toys, etc.
Ugh

I would recommend Communikids, but I wouldn’t do that commute myself

This. There is no best place. There is what's convenient, works for your family, and where your kid is well tended. Take a deep breath and go from there.

This is objectively nuts. Find a place that is caring and warm and stop trying to find “the best” of everything. You will burn out.

I think you posted on a FB parent forum too. It sounds like you already have places at several centers, ranging from more traditional daycares to fancy private preschools. Agree with the PP that said that commute actually matters a lot - if you're spending 30 min in a car each way for a half-day program, that's not great for you or your kid. All of the options you named in your other post are great and if bilingual is the most important thing to you, go with that, or take the $ and hire a bilingual nanny. Don't drive yourself nuts trying to figure out what is objectively "best," bc that is subjective for every family.

Have you looked at the JCC Preschool? No language immersion but great facility, wonderful teachers and it has full day hours but doesn't feel like day care, it feels like school. It's in DuPont

A long commute to and from daycare is not a small thing and probably more important than any differences between quality centers. Use that time to go to the park.

Frankly if they are 2.5 I'd send them to Scrilli because most the other kids who have turned three are heading to regular school

Hi Parents,

What is the best daycare in DC for a child who is 2.5 years old that might still have a place open this late? We are willing to spend whatever necessary for the best place, and are ok with commuting outside of our neighborhood- Bloomingdale. We have a place at Barbara Chambers, but I'm having cold feet. I am biased because I grew up in a suburb, and it's hard to adjust to the realities of urban daycares. My concerns are mainly with safety, the space and the lack of green space.

I also don't know which is more important: going to the best school possible or one that's good and has Spanish immersion? It's very important to me that my child is bilingual, but I also know 0-3 are the most important years of any human's life. Any sage parents out there who've tried both or have suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
