Why stay away from DC Dynasty?

My kid plays on a B team and they beat DCD by like 20 runs. I will say that their coaches seemed great.

Disagree. Definitely sign up for rec fall ball in your area. Many teams for travel have residency requirements. Look at the nvtbl website.

Travel Ball is important at 10 as it gives kids better competition in real game situations.

Nope. Skills development is more important at this age. Can’t fix bad mechanics at 14U.

Of course you can. College and even professionals still sometimes “fix” their mechanics.

You probably won’t play in HS if you show up with bad mechanics. At least not at any HS in the DMV that sends kids to play in college. There’s a lot of talent in the area and HS coaches don’t have the need or resources to fix little Johnnie’s swing that was fine for hitting bombs with a -10:bat in 12U. But can’t touch 80MPH with a BBCOR bat.

How fast does your son throw? What is his exit velocity?

It may be somewhat useful, but not particularly important. I agree with PP if you have a decent LL (of which there are actually quite a few in the DMV).

At that age, your $1,000 spent on a travel team per season is much better spent on strong individual instruction (and lots of reps on your own).

Popular ones in DC/Close-in suburbs:

WinWithin
DC Dynasty
BCC (BCC also has a tryout rec division called Select...it's not travel, but you have to "make" the league to play and then I think they draft or assign you to teams...may be a great option)

Look for the teams listed under 10U. Contact coaches.

Hey there, I'm looking for a local (DC/MD/VA) 10U Travel Baseball organization for my son. Would rather have it be based in DC, or the close-in suburbs, but could also venture outside of the Beltway. I know we have missed most tryouts, but was wondering how to find teams that have openings on their roster. Any suggestions? Thanks!
