We volunteer to sort them and return them to the main person. I’m not in the DC area but it looks like they collect them in McLean. It’s most likely a person you drop them off with but this is a legit organization.

Drop them off at the elementary school closest to you! Legos are expensive, tons of teachers would love to have them.

Send them back to Lego. They will wash and distribute them to needy organizations.
