The Head coaches (Shannon and Kyle) are seriously two of the best in the area. Your experience will depend on how well your child responds to the specific coach they get but JFD always had a strong emphasis on stroke technique and I’m sure that will continue. My guess is that they have hired very qualified coaches.
They will look at your swimmer and determine where he will start. He needs to swim twice a week at his age.

Fill out the info form on their website and they will contact you. They will evaluate your child and suggest a program based on the evaluation.

If it’s like JFD (coaches came from jfd) minis is for 8u, sometimes 9yo too if they’re not strong swimmers.

My 8 year old (will turn 9 in November) can swim 25m with okay breaststroke or ugly freestyle (do not know how to sidebreathing yet). What should I sign him up? I am not sure if he is age qualified for minis, are those minis for little kids like age 5? Pre-team probably is for more younger age as well, right?

He is doing city run learning to swim lesson making really slow progress with like 1:8 ratio, once a week. He also just start 1:1 swim lesson with a instructor from city making slow progress.

I and DH are thinking if we should switch swim center to Quince Orchard Swim Academy for learning to swim lessons OR continue at City of Rockville swim center for 1 more year. He has been at city of rockville swim pool for a few years.
