Golf is less exercise, takes up more land, and participants are usually more "obsessed" than pickleballers.

There are lots of things I don't get for myself, birdwatching, model building, watching sports you don't play on TV, doesn't mean I can't get why other people may like them.

This is how I feel about most things that others complain about that doesn’t affect them. Like the hate for OBX and Disney vacations. The hate for certain styles of clothing, etc.

Some people just seem to bristle at anything that gets popular.

In the case of pickleball, it’s covering two things that adults desperately need these days: exercise and socializing. No, it’s not marathon running, but movement is good for people! We all benefit when more people get up and move and talk and laugh!

I resisted for a long time, and I definitely am not obsessed, but our teens like it and talked us into playing on our recent vacation and it was fun. But I will do most anything to have quality time with my kids.

It is exercise. Non athletic people need a lower level of intensity.

The games I see are very intense!

It's the lowest common denominator of exercise which is wonderful for people who need it. Now make it less LOUD and ANNOYING

Have you ever played? It’s fun and social. People like that. I dare say they need that.

I run for intense aerobic exercise, but I play pickleball for low-stakes, friendly competition.

I haven’t tried it. And as a tennis player I don’t want to. Thanks for explaining some of why I feel this way!

Steady walking is more aerobic can pickleball. There's a whole lot of standing around in pickleball.

I feel like every other day another friend becomes obsessed with pickleball or another place I go to installs pickleball courts.

I don’t get it. It’s just hitting a ball around, right? Like I get that might be fun sometimes but I don’t get the obsession.
