Crazy question for a non EV owner. Doesn’t the charger come with the vehicle?

Yes to this - we have a freestanding garage & had to dig a trench to bury the electrical in our backyard to accomplish charger installation - was on other side of house & quite a distance away - cost us $7500.

$2500 with panel replacement and upgrade to 220 or whatever was needed idk what they did but everything is new and works

It cost me $2000 in MoCo a year ago (almost exactly), but I, too, had to route a pipe from the opposite end of the house, and I chose an option that increased the cost a.little bit (in favor of decreasing the amount of internal disruption).
Well worth it to me.

We paid $700 for an electrician to install our charger. It is hard-wired. I believe the charger (Autel, bought on Amazon) was about $500.

I paid like $750 for a charger very close to the breaker panel, but also through a brick wall.

Whatever you do make sure to check out local tax credits in addition to the federal ones. DC paid an additional 25% of my install costs on top of the federal credit.

Distance from the panel and whether your panel will need to be upgraded are the main cost drivers for installation. Plus about $600 for the charger itself.

According to my ChargePoint app, the most recent time that I used my Level 2 charger here at home, I added 243 miles at an estimated cost (PEPCO rates) of $13.11.

Costs vary widely. Someone quoted us $4000! Get at least 3, if not more, quotes. $1500 is about average, I'd say, in NOVA.

Not including the charger itself, I paid around 500 or 600 dollars.

In Virginia a year ago I paid $1,300, but my electrical panel was on the other side of the house from the garage. Cost was for 80' of 6-3 romex snaking through the ceiling of my basement. In addition, I paid about $600 for the charger. 30% of that was a tax rebate. Charging is cheaper than gas, but it would take a long time to recoup that.

Has anyone done this recently in the DMV area? Or specifically in MoCo. What were the installation costs? Or even a range of what it might cost?

Also I’d love to hear your numbers to justify your EV purchase, including car cost and fuel savings vs a gas vehicle.
