In our case we just go out for dinner a couple of times but we really enjoy the peace and quiet around our home. We will also share a very nice bottle of wine, get a bit tipsy and then we let our libidos take over. It gives us a sense for what life will be like as empty nesters.

splurge and treat yourselves to a nice dinner out and a night at a nice hotel to do the things you really want to do when there are no kids around. we just had 4 weeks of no kids and took a vacay together.

Little Pearl if you can still get a reservation - drinks at the Eastern. DH and I basically eat all the types of food our kids hate while they're at camp.

I don't know, we don't get out much, sadly. On the one hand we're happy with a free museum (if any are open late) and pizza since it'll be novel enough to just get out. But on the other hand we've basically been saving money not doing many dates, so we could splurge more.

Maybe staying under $600, which could be one big thing or a few nights out across the week.
