Ledecky is great, no doubt. Unfortunately swimming is so unbelievably boring.

Visi has the most. Do I gotta count them for you?๐Ÿ™„

Snarky rivalry aside, Iโ€™d actually be interested. I love it when local school/place names get mentioned at the Olympics. I grew up in Oakton and was so excited when the announcer mentioned that one of the U.S. divers was from Oakton last night - just before they absolutely flubbed the dive and dropped to last place. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚ Which Olympians are Visi grads?

If there are any, VISI is not promoting it in any way on their social media. Gonzaga had an alum receive a bronze medal for rowing and that's all over their social media, and SR has also posted about Paris as well. A lot of local media have been publishing articles about the athletes in Paris, but I haven't heard of any from VISI.

SR parent here. Honestly, SR is going a bit over the top with the constant posting on Instagram and FB. This is a school with a lot more dimension to this institution beyond athletics and celebrating olympians. It would be nice if they balanced that out even just a tiny bit. This year they have declared that the focus would be on Goal #1, "a personal and active faith in God." Let's hope they deliver on that. Celebrating athletes is wonderful, but there is more than that to celebrate.

I tried Googling it but didnโ€™t come up with any Visi Olympians.

I was assuming pp was including athletes at previous Olympics rather than Paris because otherwise weโ€™d have heard about it.

No, but I look forward to your letter to the editor condemning WaPoโ€™s biased and unfair reporting.

Serbia? What are you talking about? Serbia has won one medal in this Olympics. That would be one of the countries that the Republic of Stone Ridge has beaten in the medal count.

Anonymous wrote:This headline and article actually made me realize how few countries get multiple medals in the Olympics. Itโ€™s still amazing that SR has three alum in the games together and that theyโ€™ve won four medals in three events (two of them have a medal for the same relay event), and I think itโ€™s so cool how they have known each other and supported each other since some were practically toddlers. I loved the article. But it really brings home how privileged a handful of countries including the U.S. are to rake in the medals they get.

i mean a lot of USA athletes are underpriviled too. not our fault that the only athletic europeans are serbian, lol

The article mentioned that Bacon also went to Little Flower with Ledecky.
