Only person I know who sends *unsolicited* birthday and Christmas wish lists is my mother in law and she's in her 80s.

I hope the op's co-worker talks to her child and at least tells her to send two separate messages!

Usually it’s the parent asking the kid for their birthday or Christmas list.

I think most parents still send their 20 something year old kids birthday presents.

My in-laws still send lovely bday and holiday gifts to both of us plus our kids and we are mid-50s. My mom sends my husband and I each a card, and our college-aged kids a card with $100. All very appreciated, nothing requested or expected.

My in-laws do this for my husband and me. We are in our 50s. They usually sent money now but 20 years ago, they used to get us gifts for our new home. They sometimes get gifts for our kids like clothing for back to school or some video games. It’s mostly gift cards now that they are older.

I don't know about anyone else except my own family. Some years, my 19-year-old will tell me what he wants, and other years, I have to ask him. I can't remember the last time my 24-year-old told me what he wanted unprompted.

At birthday lunch for co-worker, the birthday co-worker complained that their over 26 year old DC still sends “here’s what I want for my birthday” list. The lists get sent to her on her bday from DC. So happy birthday in 1 text and right after or before is text of what I want list. Aside from why she doesn’t tell kid to stop if doesn’t like, my question is how common is it for birthday lists after let’s say college or first job? I would have thought uncommon, but curious what others see.
