This was normal practice at high school graduation parties I attended in the midwest 25 years ago.

They had a photo presentation thing on loop plus tables and boards plural of all this stuff on display.

A few weeks ago we were at a similar party for a young lady headed to swim at a division 1 university on full scholarship and she didn't have anywhere near the display. The contrast was interesting.


Oh wow. Yes, that is decidedly cringe. I assume the parents organized it.

Why do you care?


I was surprised a teen not that great at a sport can seemingly buy that many awards. And then to display it all for guests like you're Katie Ledecky was a bit over the top, to me.

It's a graduation party. So we can be proud of graduating and celebrate that, but nothing else?

If it's their room, it's fine. Where else would you put the stuff? If it's prominently displayed in a more public part of the house, then I'd say it's the parents' fault for being a little too proud.

It seems fine. A high schooler celebrating the end of her childhood, including rec sports.
