This. As long as there is a door you can close to work, you will be fine.

Agree with PP. I’m in a 2000 SF house and it is challenging not because of the small kitchen and living room but because of the WFH part. Going to get a snack, walk the dog, or just going through the house to put away laundry midday can cause chaos with the kids who see me and want me. Plus the nanny probably feels like she is constantly being watched just by the nature of her bosses being home. The nanny leaves for the park or library most of the day, probably for this reason.

The biggest challenge will be the WFH part. You need really good, secluded, quiet home office space and a willingness to hole up in there (ideally with access to a bathroom and snacks) or you risk being distracted or interrupted regularly throughout the day. Or you need to go back to the office.

We had more sq footage and our nanny took the kids out a lot, but it eventually drove me up a wall to have them around (and DH ended up RTO voluntarily to get out of there).

This would not be a live in nanny. Good point about them being out of the house for a lot of the day!

It’s totally fine if there are plenty of outdoor activities nearby. Our nanny is rarely at home other than lunch and nap

You don’t mention if nanny will have her own room and bathroom? I was a live in nanny in a small condo and shared a bathroom with my 2 year old charge. It worked for me. We lived within walking distance from a shopping center. I went to Panera and Starbucks a lot.

We both work from home about half the week.

I live in a 1500 square foot house. We have quite a big play room/bedroom for our baby, but our kitchen and living room are quite small. Is it awkward having a nanny in such a small space?
