I'm worried about my black eyed Susan's, which were weed-like in previous years. Now they're tiny and just a couple flowers and overall a lot fewer plants.

Do you think they'll come back?

First year plants sleep then they creep then they leap. My cone flowers from 2 years ago finally had nice big flowers this year. Also it w as so dry and hot, nearly everything i planted this year withered or is really unhappy.

They need to establish. It takes 2-3 years. Please be patient.

+1 to the weeds. I have a bunch.

As long as they’re alive now, and sited in a relatively sunny spot, they’ll be great next year. They are some of my favorite flowers because they’re so reliable, they spread politely, and I end up with a yard full of goldfinches.

+1. I had a bigger coneflower that I moved in early spring. It's just a little guy right now. Needs to settle into his new spot

It may be too hot for them.
