OP, how do you like the Samsung top-loader you have now?

I curious about why people want agitators. So much clothing is delicate now and agitators wear clothes out much faster

I’ve had mine for two months now and I love it more than I ever thought I could love a washing machine.

Yes. Don't get Samsung. Why anyone buys appliances from them I will never know. GE is usually the way to go.

I’m considering doing this too. Would you mind sharing the model you picked?

I bought this one with the matching dryer as a set from Costco though they no longer seem to have it available.

That is the point.

If I can use as much water as I want to take a shower or do dishes or wash my car or water my lawn, why is an artificial restriction placed on how much water I can use to wash clothes?

We just had our Speed Queen installed yesterday. We went with it because it had a 7 year warranty which was nice. They also claim they’re built to last 25 years - but that remains to be seen. So far we love it.

We bought one for Mom's laundry. This was a lot of laundry as Mom was bedbound and incontinent so we did a lot of loads a week.

It worked great.

The only negatives is the bleach compartment rusted out a bit at the top but I'd blame that on Mom's caregivers as they splashed the bleach at the top and it rusted the edges of the bleach compartment. I doubt that would happen for a homeowner.

I have a Speed Queen stacked front loader and love it. Its about 10 years old and no problems. The only issue, and I think this happens with all front loaders, is that I have to carefully wipe down the rubber door gasket after each washing session because the water and dirt collects in there.

I’m not really picky about washers and I need to replace our Samsung top loader after 8 years. My friend who is the one who knows “the best” one of everything says I should get a speed queen. But then I see stuff about suds overflowing? I don’t really want to adopt a washing machine ideology I just want to go through the replacement hassle as few times as possible. Thanks for your help. We have plenty of room I think for anything, because our laundry is in the basement.
